Rebuild 10 years of addresses and jobs before the SF-86 asks.

ClearanceTrail turns old leases, emails, and records into one clean timeline, with gaps and overlaps flagged, so you can fill out the official form with confidence.

Readiness help only. We can't promise any clearance outcome, and we never give legal advice.

"Where did I live in March 2017?"

The SF-86 asks for every address from the last 10 years, with month and year dates, no gaps, and someone who knew you at each recent one. Most people end up digging through old email at midnight. Our founder is an Army Reserve veteran with years in the nuclear security industry (Nuclear Security Officer and Site Adversary Team Member at V.C. Summer Nuclear Station, and Team Leader on the National Composite Adversary Force). He has filled out the SF-86 himself, and that part was the hardest. He's not an investigator or adjudicator, and ClearanceTrail isn't affiliated with any government agency. Everything here is built from public instructions and his own experience as an applicant.

FAQ

Is this the official SF-86?

No. You fill out the official form only in NBIS eApp, using the link your sponsoring agency or employer sends. ClearanceTrail helps you gather your information beforehand.

Will this help me get a clearance?

We help you get organized and accurate. We can't and don't guarantee or predict any clearance decision. Those are made only by the government.

Do you give legal advice?

No. For questions about how to answer, talk to your security officer or an attorney. Our resources page lists free legal aid.

Is my data safe?

Your history is encrypted on your device before anything syncs. We don't ask for SSNs or ID numbers. Never enter classified information.

What if I'm overseas or military?

Built-in help covers barracks, on-post housing, PCS moves, and APO/FPO addresses.

How do refunds work after launch?

Purchases after launch will be processed by Paddle, our reseller and merchant of record, under Paddle's standard Buyer Terms and Refund Policy. Nothing is sold before launch, so the waitlist is free and costs nothing.
